After being put on the table July 21, the Aberdeen Board of Aldermen voted 4-1 to keep the $1.5 million bond resolution. The vote also included extending accepting sealed bond bids until September 1. The bond money will be used to pave and, or repair 25 streets in Aberdeen.
Ward 1 Alderman Alonzo Sykes voted against the bond.
At the July 21 meeting, Aberdeen Mayor Jim Ballard asked the board to lower the amount due to a commitment from the Monroe Country Board of Supervisors to help with the street paving project. Supervisors president Randle Gray denied any commitment to the project.
At Tuesday night’s meeting, Ballard said he is still in talks with the county about the project.
