ABERDEEN — Preliminary results of a recent Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality inspection show concerns of asbestos present at Aberdeen Middle School.

“If the building was considered unsafe, the MDEQ would have shut the school down immediately. We have proposed projects including replacing the wheelchair lift and ceiling tiles and we’re afraid these renovations may disrupt the asbestos,” said Chester Leigh, superintendent of the Aberdeen School District.
