UPDATE: Arrest made in Aberdeen shooting

A 17-year-old man is in custody and another man is in an area hospital after a shooting in Aberdeen Saturday morning.

The shooting took place at 8 a.m. Saturday on Mobile Street, according to Mississippi Department of Public Safety Public Affairs Director Warren Strain. The 17-year-old was in custody in the Lee County Juvenile Detention Center and will be facing aggravated assault charges this next week, Strain said. No other details on the shooting were available.

Aberdeen Police were not releasing the name since the suspect is a juvenile.

The victim is David Puddister, 56, Spain said. Puddister is at the North Mississippi Medical Center in good condition a spokesperson confirmed. Puddister is the court clerk for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Aberdeen.

MBI is assisting the Aberdeen Police Department in this ongoing investigation.
