The body of United Methodist missionary Marshuan Braxton has been found off the western coast of Costa Rica.
Bishop Hope Morgan Ward of the Mississippi United Methodist Conference confirmed that Braxton has been recovered and arrangements are being made to bring him home.
Braxton, 17, a member of First United Methodist Church in New Albany went missing Sunday evening after a large wave washed him out to sea.
“We’re deeply grieved by the loss of such a fine, outstanding young man,” said Morgan Ward, adding that Costan Rican authorities and the United Methodist Church in Costa Rica have been very helpful in the search process.
