UPDATE: Daughter charged in mother’s shooting death in Prentiss County

BOONEVILLE – A daughter is charged with murder in the death of her mother on Mississippi Highway 4 East Tuesday night.
Jane Jones, 66, died after suffering gunshot wounds to her abdomen and arm, said Sheriff Randy Tolar.
Her daughter, Rebecca Lynn Jones, 46, is being held in Prentiss County Jail on a charge of murder. She lives at 1551 C.R. 450, Lexington, Ala., and her bond has been set at $1 million.
Authorities have recovered the weapon believe to have been used in the shooting, the sheriff said.
Jane Jones was able to call 911 for help about 5:47 p.m., the sheriff said. When the first officer responding to the call arrived at her residence less than 10 minutes later, the suspect was returning to the house as well.
The case remains under investigation by the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Office.
