TUPELO – The Lee County Democratic Executive Committee has asked Mike Scott to resign as superintendent of Lee County Schools, citing “conduct unbecoming.”
Eric Hampton, the chairman of the Lee County Democratic Party, sent a letter to Scott on July 13 giving him until Friday to resign. The letter cites Scott for serving as “a poor role model for students, teachers and employees of the Lee County School system” and casting a “poor light and unfavorable character on all Democrats of Lee County.”
Hampton met with the district’s school board in executive session today.
Scott holds an elected position and ran as a Democrat. The Lee County Democratic Executive Committee certifies all candidates who run as Democrats in the county.
Scott was unavailable for immediate comment.
