UPDATE: Downtown Tupelo bike trail gets $2.3M funding

According to Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) officials, Federal Transportation Enhancement funds have been authorized by MDOT Executive Director, Larry L. “Butch” Brown to be allocated to the City of Tupelo.

Funding in the amount of $2,300,000 will be used for the construction of a bike/pedestrian trail on Main Street in Tupelo to the Elvis Presley Birthplace as part of the revitalization of the streetscape and roadway. Through the Transportation Enhancement Program (TEP), MDOT will enter into an agreement with the City of Tupelo for the purpose of overseeing the utilization of these funds.
