PONTOTOC – An ATV crash took the life in Pontotoc County early Thursday morning.
Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a MS 9 South in Pontotoc County at approximately 6:30 a.m., to investigate a accident involving a passenger car and ATV, according to MHP Trooper Ronny Hall.
Upon arriving it appeared Roger D Long, 63, of Randolph, was operating an ATV and traveling north on MS 9 when he apparently attempted to cross the highway and pulled into the path of a south bound, 1991 Dodge Dakota, driven by Britt Raines, 26, of Randolph.
Long died from injuries suffered in the collision.
It appeared Long was traveling on the ATV to go hunting.
Raines was not injured.
This is the first fatal accident of 2012 for MHP Troop F.
