OXFORD — A Lafayette County grand jury has decided against indicting a 70-year-old woman accused of fatally shooting a man she said was dragging her husband with a car.
The grand jury heard Brenda Crommie’s case in late May, and, according to records unsealed this week, didn’t indict her.
Crommie was arrested in mid-April after she allegedly fired several shots into a car being driven by 47-year-old James Lee Jones killing him and wounding her son, Keith Richardson.
At the time, deputies said Crommie’s 81-year-old husband, Maurice, was being dragged by Jones’ car after Maurice Crommie attempted to get his son from the vehicle.
