Firefighters and police are fighting a house fire at 120 County Road 1562 and plan to be there until late in the night to be sure it stays out.
According to Ron Whitte, Mooreville’s fire chief, they got the call around 5 p.m. When the unit got to the scene in about seven or eight minutes, the house was already fully engulfed in flames and the roof had caved in.
It was feared at first someone was still in the three-story home when it caught fire, but everyone was out safely.
Ambulances were nearby in case they were needed and Care Flight was on standby.
The home is close to Lake Piomingo. It was completely destroyed.
Many Lee County fire units are there Richmond, Birmingham Ridge, Palmetto and Unity Fellowship.
One interesting piece of information about the fire is the same house caught on fire two years ago and that fire was still under investigation.
