JACKSON — The number of Mississippi residents threatened with the loss of their homes slid 37 percent from June to July.
California-based RealtyTrac, which tracks national foreclosure data, says 478 homeowners in Mississippi received some sort of a foreclosure-related notice last month. That can range from an initial notice of default to outright sale of the property.
Despite the month-to-month drop, The figure was still up 152 percent from July 2008.
For the latest month, 124 Mississippi actually lost their property.
In Mississippi, one out of every 2,625 homeowners received some sort of notice in July. Nationally, that figure stood at one of every 355 homeowners.
