UPDATE: Former Scruggs associates sue for breach of contract, claim racketeering

JACKSON – Two Gulf Coast attorneys have sued former Oxford attorney Richard “Dickie” Scruggs, claiming he failed to live up to a contract with them for fees from the national tobacco settlement.

Lee Young and Charles Mikhail filed their lawsuit in the Southern District of the U.S. District Court of Mississippi on Thursday.

They say Scruggs, individually and in business, plus unnamed defendants 1-10, conspired to pay their legal fees to former Booneville attorney Joey Langston to fund schemes to bribe elected officials, including judges.

They’re asking for a jury trial and a wide assortment of damages for numerous alleged loss claims.
