WASHINGTON, D.C. – Mississippi Supreme Court Justice James Graves of Clinton will be considered again Thursday in his nomination to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
An official agenda for the Senate Judiciary Committee Executive Business Meeting to vote on judicial renominees shows Graves’ name to be considered during a 10 a.m. meeting in Washington.
Graves was approved by the full committee in 2010, but his nomination by President Obama did not come to the full Senate in time for a vote before the Congress recessed Dec. 31.
He is the only African-American member of the state’s highest court and is a former circuit judge.
Graves was re-nominated Jan. 5.
