A former volunteer firefighter, William Cody Lambert of Guntown, has been indicted on on charges of capital murder and arson in Lee and Union counties.
According to court documents, the Union County grand jury indicted Lambert on counts of first degree arson and capital murder in the death of 88-year-old Myrtle Mae Owen, who died in one of the arson fires in the Alpine community.
In Lee County, Lambert faces six counts of arson that include intentionally setting the fire that destroyed St. Thomas Catholic Church in Saltillo, four homes and a bale of hay between February 20.
