According to family members, Eddie Hood, first district school board member, was hospitalized with bacterial meningitis while on vacation in Pensacola, Fla. He is currently in the intensive care unit there and hopefully can soon be transported to NMMC for further treatment.
“Eddie is a vital part of our school board and has served as chairman of the board for many of those years,” said Teresa McNeece, Itawamba County school superintendent. “He is very professional in the manner in which he runs the school board meetings and we all wish him a full recovery and are anticipating his return to service soon as the First District school board representative,” she said.
