OXFORD – Circuit Judge Andrew Howorth today ordered the Lafayette County Board of Supervisors to stop interfering with drug court operations.
In a 15-page order, Howorth also told the board to add a part-time court employee and to continue paying the court’s bills until he can get it moved to Union County.
The board has yet to respond, although Howorth didn’t give it much room except to appeal his order.
About two years ago, Lafayette County agreed to be “lead” in the seven-county district for the drug court, which is an alternative to prison for non-violent, substance abusing offenders.
