OKLAHOMA CITY — A Guatemalan man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the traffic death of a Mississippi woman.
Rolando Chay Chay also pleaded guilty to causing an injury accident and other counts in connection with the June 16, 2009, accident that killed Pamela McGaughy of Burnsville, Miss.
During Friday’s hearing Chay Chay admitted he was drunk when he drove a car into the back of a minivan on Interstate 40 in Del City. McGaughy was thrown from the vehicle as it overturned, and her uncle, Harry McGaughy, was injured.
Chay Chay apologized to Pamela McGaughy’s husband.
An Oklahoma County prosecutor says Chay Chay was living in Oklahoma illegally and will be deported.
