JACKSON — Gov. Haley Barbour said Monday that a German company will build a $300 million plant to manufacture stainless steel pipes in northwestern Mississippi.
The plant in Tunica County will be the first in North America by Wilh.SchulzGMBH, which is headquartered in Krefeld, Germany. Barbour is asking Mississippi lawmakers to approve $15 million in bonds for the project. Leaders say they expect the House to approve the incentives Tuesday and the Senate to approve the package on Wednesday.
Construction can begin in the next few months and the plant could be opened by early 2011.
