TUPELO – Lee County supervisors voted unanimously today to readvertise for the expansion of the Renasant Center for IDEAs business incubator.
The 5-0 decision came after county Administrator Sean Thompson reported that the county’s average rate of growth supports the payment plan for the project and significantly reduces the chance that a tax increase would be needed to fund the expansion.
On Feb. 16, supervisors pulled back from the $5.4 million expansion, which would add a three-story building next to the current downtown facility, after several expressed concern that the county couldn’t afford its share of the project.
