JACKSON— Documents related to the federal corruption case against former Hinds County Circuit Judge Bobby Delaughter will be available for judges’ review in two other cases.
DeLaughter pleaded guilty July 30 to obstruction in the bribery scheme that toppled former attorney Richard “Dickie” Scruggs.
Former Hinds County District Attorney Ed Peters was to testify at trial that he influenced DeLaughter in the Scruggs case and another civil lawsuit. Delaughter’s plea meant Peters didn’t have to testify publicly.
U.S. District Judge Glen H. Davidson has ruled that Peter’s secret grand jury testimony and other materials can be handed over to judges in those other cases.
