STARKVILLE — The Starkville School Board has voted to require students in grades 6 to 12, teachers, administrators, support staff, volunteers and visitors to wear identification badges while on school grounds and at school events.
The badges will be worn around the neck.
The Starkville Daily News reports that for students, failure to wear an ID badge will be treated as a disciplinary offense.
School superintendent Judy Couey says each student’s ID will contain his or her photograph and each badge will have a bar code for the wearer.
Couey says the badges will also be required of students for after-school events.
