JACKSON – Mississippi’s unemployment rate was at 9.4 percent in March, up two-tenths of a percentage point from February, according to figures from the Mississippi Department of Employment Security released Wednesday.
The national jobless rate was 9 percent for March. Mississippi’s rate in March 2008 was 6.1 percent.
According to MDES figures, the construction and manufacturing industries posted the highest job losses.
Lamar and Rankin counties had the lowest jobless rate at 6 percent. Holmes County had the highest rate at 19.3 percent with Noxubee County at 18.6 percent.
