UPDATE: Suspect in Corinth bank robbery dies of injuries

CORINTH — An Alabama man who Corinth police say was a suspect in a bank robbery has died of injuries he suffered in a traffic accident during a police chase.

Lee County Coroner Carolyn Gillentine-Green tells The Daily Corinthian that Asa Nakeen Warren of Tuscumbia, Ala., died Friday at a Tupelo hospital.

Police say Warren was a passenger in a vehicle that crashed Nov. 9. The driver, Vida Deshondrell Byrd, also of Tuscumbia, died in the accident.

Corinth Police Chief David Lancaster says the chase began after the car fled the scene of the robbery at a SouthBank branch.

No charges had been filed against Warren because authorities were never able to interview him due to the severity of his injuries.
