TUPELO – After being charged with bank robbery six months ago and evading capture during that time, Michael Deans is in custody.
Deans, 34, of West Point, was charged with armed robbery for the robbery at Renasant Bank in Shannon on Oct. 23, 2008. After finding a vehicle left at the scene, authorities named Deans as a suspect and charged him with the crime even though he wasn’t in custody. He was arrested in Monroe County Wednesday.
That day in October, three men walked into the bank and took it over, according to Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson. They went behind the counter and took an undisclosed amount of money.
Authorities are still looking for three more suspects in the case.
