UPDATE: Timber Products Company announces more layoffs

CORINTH — Timber Products Company officials say a continuing drop in product orders due to the ongoing downturn in the economy led to the decision to layoff 23 workers at its Corinth manufacturing facility.

Plant Manager Levon Newsom said this most recent round of layoffs on Monday leaves 36 employees working at the Corinth plant, down from 83 a year ago.

Newsom said the decision comes amid declines in orders from distributors who manufacture kitchen cabinets and other items from the high quality wood panels produced in Corinth.
