JACKSON, Miss. – Toyota Motor Co. says it hasn’t changed its position on its plant in northeast Mississippi, but stopped short of calling a published report completely false.
Automotive News reported Wednesday that the senior vice president of Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing North America said the company is entertaining new ideas on other products for the idled Blue Springs facility.
In an e-mailed statement, Toyota said Thursday it hasn’t changed its position on the plant but it is determining staffing levels.
The plant was scheduled to begin production of the Prius hybrid in late 2010, but that plan is on hold due to market conditions in the United States.
