MYRTLE – One man is dead and another hospitalized after an early-morning shooting in the Poolville community a few miles west of New Albany.
Union County officials said the death appears to be from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Union County Sheriff’s officers were summoned to 1035 C.R. 56 shortly after 3 a.m. Wednesday, where they found two residents of the home had been shot.
Billy Bates, 31, was dead at the scene, and Steve Kennon, 51, was transported to The Med in Memphis with a gunshot wound in his arm, according to Chief Deputy Sheriff Jimmy Edwards. Bates’ body was sent to Jackson for autopsy.
