UPDATE: Woman pleads guilty to swindling Crime Stoppers

OXFORD — A 21-year-old Aberdeen woman has been sentenced to three years probation after she pleaded guilty to being part of a conspiracy that allegedly defrauded Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers out of $18,000.

Shawanda Holliday pleaded guilty in February to one count of conspiracy to defraud the organization.

A trial date for West Point officer Boone Lairy and his alleged coconspirator, Nathan Smith, a former Columbus police officer, is set for July 6 in Oxford. An indictment says they allegedly embezzled money from Crime Stoppers for four years.

Kevin Payne, Holliday’s public defender, said Thursday Holliday is ready to testify at the upcoming trial.
