UPDATE: Woman shot in Pratts-Friendship community

UPDATE 1:30 p.m. – Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said the name of a suspect who allegedly shot a woman late Friday in the Pratts-Friendship community will be announced Monday.

The suspect, a male, was taken into custody late Friday night. The suspect will be charged with aggravated assault, two charges of shooting into an occupied dwelling and one count of possession of firearm by a convicted felony. Those charges could change if the condition of the victim changes.

Johnson said the female victim, whose name has not been released, has had one surgery and is expect to need at least one more.

He said more information will be released Monday about the incident.

UPDATE 11:16 on Saturday, Sept. 29: The victim of Friday night’s shooting is still alive after going through one surgery according to Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson. He said she is expected to have another surgery today.

The suspect is still in custody and Johnson said the will release his name as soon as charges are made.

One person is in custody after a woman was shot late Friday in the Pratts-Friendship community.
Care Flight responded to the intersection of Highways 370 and 366 after an emergency call came in around 11:20 p.m. Friday.
According to Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson, a female was shot twice.
Police were looking for a male suspect in Prentiss County, Johnson said. An arrest was made before 1 a.m. Saturday.
According to the scanner and the medics transporting the victim, it was a 50-year-old woman who had a gunshot wound in her side from a high-powered hunting rifle.
