UPDATE: Zach Scruggs' appeal denied hearing before U.S. Supreme Court

By Patsy R. Brumfield / Daily Journal

WASHINGTON – Zach Scruggs will not get his moment for appeal before the nation’s highest court.
The U.S. Supreme Court announced in its 9:30 a.m. EST orders list that the former Oxford attorney’s appeal from the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals will not be considered.
Scruggs appeal is on the “denied” list, along with other Mississippi appeals of former attorney Paul Minor and former Judge Wes Teel.
Scruggs insists he is innocent of government charges he committed a felony when he failed to report a colleague’s illegal conversation with a judge presiding over a lawsuit against him, his famous then-attorney father Dickie Scruggs and others.
Last summer, the 5th Circuit denied his appeal that Senior U.S. District Judge Neal B. Biggers in Oxford lacked jurisdiction and that his indictment failed to specify his crime.
He also appealed on other issues.
