KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – TVA Chairman Bill Sansom’s term ends soon, but he doesn’t plan to leave the federal utility just yet.
The Knoxville businessman’s term officially ends May 18, along with fellow director Don DePriest of Columbus, Miss.
But with tough budget issues facing the Tennessee Valley Authority and two vacancies already on the nine-member board, Sansom tells The Associated Press that both he and DePriest intend to stay until their replacements arrive.
The Tennessean newspaper reports several people from Tennessee are being mentioned for the vacancies. But background checks and Senate confirmation can take months.
Sansom and DePriest are eligible to remain on the board until the end of the calendar year.
