COLUMBUS – Waverley University, a Jackson marketing firm says today, was most favorably received in their search for a new name for Mississippi University for Women.
The other choices were Welty-Reneau University and Reneau University selected from public suggestions to a campus committee appointed by MUW President Dr. Claudia Limbert.
The meeting today isn’t over, so final details are still being reported.
Last fall, Limbert called for a new name for the Columbus four-year institution because, she said, MUW does not accurately describe what the school is anymore.
MUW, which is celebrating its 125th anniversary, began admitting men in 1982.
