HATTIESBURG — The University of Southern Mississippi on Friday dedicates its new Trent Lott National Center for Excellence in Economic Development and Entrepreneurship.
The Hattiesburg American reports that the building’s namesake, former U.S. Sen. Trent Lott, and other state officials are expected to attend.
Lott says the new center will help USM attract promising students and the best economic development practitioners to train and work in Hattiesburg.
Construction on the $28 million building began in 2004. It will house the Department of Economic and Workforce Development; Center for Logistics, Trade and Transportation; National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security and the Office of Advancement and USM Foundation offices.
