HOUSTON – A Chickasaw County man has died after his vehicle left the roadway Friday evening on Mississippi Highway 32 Extended west of Okolona.
Trooper Brian Mobley, Public Affairs Officer for Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol Troop G, said Phillip Earrey, Jr., 31, of Van Vleet, was westbound on Hwy. 32 Extended in a 2005 gold Dodge Stratus shortly after 8 p.m. Friday when the accident occurred.
“The vehicle was traveling west on Mississippi Highway 32 Extended when it appears to have traveled off the roadway and overturned several times,” said Mobley. “Mr. Earrey was pronounced dead on the scene by the Chickasaw County Coroner. The vehicle was also occupied by Erica Williams, a 31-year-old female from Amory.”
Both occupants were ejected from the vehicle and initial reports by the Mississippi Highway Patrol indicate they were not wearing seatbelts.
Mobley said Williams was transported by air ambulance to North Mississippi Medical Center and he did not know the extent of her injuries.
The crash is under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol.
Their have been at least three other fatal auto accidents in Chickasaw County this year.
