MYRTLE – Vandals broke or overturned more than 100 gravestones in a Union County cemetery and broke several more at the Booneville Cemetery sometime over the weekend.
“The damage at Union Hill was very extensive,” said Jimmy Edwards, chief deputy with the Uniobn County Sheriff’s Department. “We’ll be getting with CrimeStoppers so we can offer a reward for information leading to the arrest of these knuckleheads.”
Vandals also struck the city cemetery in Booneville, overturning or damaging about three dozen markers.
Investigators from the Union County Sheriff’s Office and the Booneville Police Department are seeking suspects in both cases.
