Vendor submits proposal for inmate phone service

CORINTH – Alcorn County supervisors are considering a contract with Correctional Communications Inc. of Brandon to provide inmate telephone service at the regional jail.
Company principal Sam Waggoner submitted the contract for review and highlighted some key elements of the contract during Monday’s regular county board meeting.
CCI would make an upfront payment to the county of $10,000 to buy computer equipment and software to manage the communications system for state prisoners, and pay an additional $500 per month for ongoing maintenance.
A cost of about $1,300 per station plus software that would be used by the city of Corinth and the county jail would be the financial responsibility of the city and county, Waggoner said.
Supervisors tabled discussion of the contract proposal so they and county attorney Robert Krohn can review it. The subject will be put on the Dec. 6 board agenda for a vote.
