Best known for designing glamorous wedding dresses meant for dream weddings, Vera Wang picked up a dream home for herself a few days ago in Beverly Hills.
The designer’s new home is a mid-century modern mansion previously owned by Burt Reynolds. Reynolds’ residence was built in 1967 and sold to celebrity designer Steven Hermann in 2008 for $5 million.
Hermann spent three years completely updating the contemporary residence, adding several water features at the entrance of the home as well as modern faucets, light fixtures and furniture from Italian designer brands. The home was listed on the Beverly Hills real estate market for $10.9 million in March 2011. Wang reportedly purchased the home for about $10 million.
Wang’s new 4,394-square-foot home overlooking Los Angeles is nearly all glass, allowing for sweeping views of the entire city and Pacific Ocean from almost every room. Despite the glass walls, the home is private, set back on a long driveway in the exclusive Trousdale Estates. The Estates have long been a celebrity hangout, and notable residents have included Elvis Presley, Dean Martin, and Eddie Murphy.
The 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom home includes a spacious home theater that seats up to thirty, as well as terrace pool overlooking L.A. and the Pacific Ocean.
Although Reynolds has called Beverly Hills home for quite awhile, he also owns an estate in Hobe Sound, FL. The home has been on the market awhile, going through several price cuts without a buyer. According to news reports, Reynolds was just hit with a foreclosure lawsuit on the home. Florida’s Martin County Circuit Court claims that the “Smoky and the Bandit” star hasn’t made mortgage payments in over a year and now owes $1.2 million. Perhaps he should have considered refinancing— current mortgage rates are near record lows.
