Verona cracks down on unpaid fines

By The Associated Press

VERONA — Verona is cracking down on old fines.

WTVA TV reports the city is giving those with outstanding fines two weeks to pay or see their names published in the local newspaper.

The list includes over 2,000 people. Some fines date back over 10 years.

City officials said the goal is not to embarrass anyone only to collect the fees.

Officials said offenders have two weeks to pay once their name is published in the paper. After that, police will begin making house calls.
