Veterans Day celebrations planned for Veteran's Park

TUPELO – The city is hosting its annual Tribute to Veterans on Nov. 11 to honor all veterans.
Nov. 11 is Veterans Day, the day set aside to honor all military veterans. Unlike Memorial Day, which honors those killed in battle, Veterans Day is one in which those still living receive recognition.
Tupelo Parks and Recreation Director Don Lewis said this year’s event also will include the dedication of a monument to the Veteran’s Memorial Park by the American Legion.
“This is a great program to honor our veterans,” said Lewis. “We are glad to be able to celebrate the men and women who have served in the military to protect our country.”
Brigadier Gen. James Mitchell will be the keynote speaker for the event as well as Gen. T.K. Moffett.
The ceremony will start at 9 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial at Veteran’s Park. Lewis said it is expected to last about 30 minutes.
