Even though the Harley’s Heroes Tour is not coming to Northeast Mississippi, military veterans from the area are invited to Bruce Rossmeyer’s Southern Thunder Harley Davidson in Horn Lake for free benefits counseling.
The tour is sponsored by Harley Davidson as a way to provide veterans free counseling and assistance with their government benefits. The Disabled American Veterans Mobile Service Office will roll into Southern Thunder Harley Davidson at 9 a.m. Saturday as a part of the event.
The mission of the tour is to provide access to benefits for all veterans and show appreciation for their service and sacrifice to our community.
Lisa Wade, event spokeswoman, said this is the third year the dealership has participated in the tour.
“Several veterans have been assisted the past two years and we hope that continues this year,” Wade said. “This tour has helped some veterans to realize they weren’t getting all their benefits and have helped some who weren’t getting any benefits to start getting them. Tupelo does not have a Harley dealership so we want to invite the veterans from that area to join us.”
Wade said a large number of their customer base is from the Northeast Mississippi area.
The tour was made possible by a $1 million grant from the Harley Davidson Foundation and in time for November’s Military Appreciation Month.
Any veteran is invited to get the free counseling at the event, which lasts until 4 p.m.
