Vicksburg 10-year-old shot in head dies

VICKSBURG — Vicksburg police and hospital officials in Jackson say a 10-year-old boy who was shot in the head Monday night has died.

University of Mississippi Medical Center spokesperson Jack Mazurak and Police Chief Walter Armstrong say Jerald Tucker Jr. died Wednesday at the Jackson hospital.

Police Lt. Sandra Williams says in a statement that it appears the shooting was accidental and the district attorney’s office has been made aware of all the information detectives have collected.

Police say they have talked to three people who were in the home at the time of the shooting. No charges have been filed.

Police says officers found the boy on his living room floor while responding to a shooting about 9 p.m. Monday.
