VIDEO: Mayor Shelton helps demolish a house

Daily Journal

TUPELO – Mayor Jason Shelton had some destructive fun on Wednesday.

Shelton helped Tupelo Public Works tear down a house on West Jackson Street, spending a few minutes in the cab of an excavator and working the knobs. The city had voted the house to be a public safety concern.

In the picture below, Tupelo Public Works employee Johnny Miles keeps a close eye on Shelton.

How silly. I hope that while the mayor and his communications director were busy playing with the excavator, they were being paid the same rate as an excavator operator, not the $90,000 and $45,000, respectively, that they are paid to do their actual jobs.
This mayor spends a lot of time playing with large equipment while Rome burns. I regret my vote for him in the last election.
