Washington Furniture adding warehouse space

By Dennis Seid/NEMS Daily Journal

Six weeks ago Washington Furniture Sales moved from a cramped 150,000-square foot location into a 369,000-square-foot plant in Pontotoc formerly owned by Action Industries/Lane Home Furnishings.

Now, the company, which makes promotional recliners, sofas and loveseats, already is expanding. It is adding 100,000 square feet in warehouse space to accommodate additional production lines, said owner Gerald Washington.

“Things have been going very well,” he said, noting the company has grown from about 100 workers to 130 now and is looking to hire more.

Washington also bought the former Hickory Springs plant across the street; the building is used to supply foam to the main plant on Stafford Boulevard in Pontotoc.
