Waveland man ID's as Miss. plane crash fatality

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (AP) — Friends and colleagues say Frank Letellier got his nickname “Breezy” from his love of flying.

The body of the 44-year-old Waveland man was found Monday among the wreckage of his single-engine plane after it crashed in coastal Mississippi’s Hancock County.

Letellier was a businessman and computer programer for the U.S. Geological Survey.

The Federal Aviation Administration says his plane, a four-seat Diamond DA40, was destroyed when it crashed about 6 to 8 miles west of Stennis International Airport.

The website Flight Aware tracks private and commercial flights. It posted a flight plan for Letellier’s plane Sunday night from Florida’s Destin-Fort Walton Beach airport to Stennis.

A crash investigation continues.
