Wellness Center director, community leader Hank Boerner dies

TUPELO — Hank Boerner, director of North Mississippi Medical Center’s Wellness Center and a community leader and activist, died today at NMMC after entering the hospital Wednesday.
Boerner was co-chair of the Mayor’s Healthy City Task Force and Tupelo Mayor Jack Reed Jr. said in a statement that “he was one of the finest men I’ve ever known … the epitome of The Tupelo Spirit.” In his healthy task force capacity, Reed said, “He has been leading our transformation into a place where our children and adults can lead healthier, more productive lives.”
Boerner is survived by his wife Helen and two children. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
