TUPELO – The Rev. Don Wildmon remained in critical condition but was speaking and acknowledging the presence of other people in the room, family members said Tuesday.
Wildmon, founder of the American Family Association, was admitted Friday night to North Mississippi Medical Center and diagnosed with what physicians believe to be bacterial meningitis.
Wildmon’s wife, Lynda, said Tuesday that her husband is “past the contagious stage” and although he was still in critical condition, he was responsive and, at times, conversant.
She said doctors are advising that her husband is “not out of the woods yet” but that they are “cautiously optimistic” about his recovery.
