JACKSON – State Sen. J.P. Wilemon, D-Belmont, who underwent gallbladder surgery in early February, has returned to the Mississippi Capitol for the 2014 session.
Wilemon, who returned earlier this week, said he was feeling better and was “happy to return.” He said he appreciated all the people who expressed concern.
He had to undergo three procedures related to his gallbladder, but was spared the more invasive surgery.
Wilemon, who has been in the Senate since 2004, represents Prentiss and portions of Tishomingo and Itawamba counties.
Rep. Steve Holland, D-Plantersville, who had to undergo the more invasive gallbladder surgery, still is recovering at home.
Holland’s surgery occurred in January.
Both were treated at University Medical Center in Jackson.
