AMORY — A runoff election decided one race Tuesday for the city of Amory, even though there were two races on the ballot.
In the alderman-at-large race, challenger Tommy Wilkerson defeated incumbent Glen Bingham by an unofficial vote count of 702 to 592.
The vote by ward was: Ward 1 – Bingham 241, Wilkerson 258; Ward 2-Bingham 36, Wilkerson 199; Ward 3- Bingham 189, Wilkerson 128; Ward 4 – Bingham 126, Wilkerson 117.
The other race on the ballot for Ward 4 alderman was already decided before Tuesday’s runoff as Barry Woods had already announced his withdrawal from the race. Bill Lyle who will be the next Ward 4 alderman got 189 votes in the runoff to Woods’ 39 votes.
