WINONA, Miss. (AP) — The Board of Aldermen wants to know what citizens of Winona think about the possibility of legalizing the sale of beer on Sunday.

WCBI reports the board has scheduled a hearing for Sept. 3 to take public input on the matter.

Convenience store owner Charles Walker told aldermen that permitting Sunday sales would bring more business to Winona.

The aldermen also have a hearing set Sept. 3 on the city’s proposed budget for the fiscal year that begins Oct. 1. The proposal includes a property tax increase.
