Winter weather closings: Round 2

Winter weather prompted more closings of schools and other places around Northeast Mississippi.

 

Schools:

• Aberdeen Schools

• Alcorn County Schools

• Amory Schools

• Baldwyn Schools

• Baldwyn Head Start

• Benton County Schools

• Booneville Schools

• Calhoun County Schools

• Corinth Schools

• Exypnos Christian Learning Center

• First Baptist Church, Tupelo Day School and Kindergarten closed Wednesday

• First Presbyterian preschool (Tupelo; all other activities also canceled)

• Itawamba County Schools

• Lee County Schools

• Monroe County Schools

• Nettleton Schools

• New Albany Schools

• North Tippah Schools

• Pontotoc City Schools

• Pontotoc County Schools

• Prentiss County Schools

• South Tippah Schools

• Starkville Schools

• Tishomingo County Schools

• Tupelo Schools

• Tupelo Christian Preparatory School

• Union County Schools

Colleges and Universities:

• Itawamba Community College (day and evening classes canceled on all three campuses); also, the ICC Scholars’ Bowl and the VEX Robotics Competition, both scheduled for Thursday, have been postponed

• Mississippi State University (campus closed until 5 p.m.)

• Northeast Mississippi Community College (day classes canceled and administrative offices closed)

Non-school closings:

• First Baptist Church of Tupelo has canceled all Wednesday night services

• First Baptist Church of New Albany has canceled all Wednesday night programs, including the meal

• Lawndale Presbyterian Church of Tupelo has canceled Wednesday night classes, including the meal

• Parkway Baptist Church of Tupelo has canceled all Wednesday night services

• Lee County Library in Tupelo

• Itawamba County Pratt Memorial Library in Fulton

• Oasis Medical Center in Corinth

• Tupelo Aquatic Center

• Tupelo Municipal Court

MSU opening Wednesday

Mississippi State University will remain closed for campus operations until 5 p.m. Wednesday.

At that time, evening classes will resume along with other campus operations. The MSU-Georgia men’s basketball game scheduled for Wednesday night at 8 p.m. will be played.

MSU, which closed Tuesday due to winter weather, encourages all students, faculty and staff to monitor the media for changing weather information and asks that each person exercise caution and good judgment in making travel decisions.

• Perry Cafeteria will be open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

• The Colvard Union food court will open at 5 p.m. in limited service.

• Burger King will be open 4 p.m until midnight on Wednesday.

• The Sanderson Center will be open Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m.

• MSU Libraries will reopen at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
